I am in a facebook group with a bunch of mamas who had due dates in August, so all of our kiddos are within the same age range. It's awesome to get information from other mom's and there are actually some mom's in the group from Maryland. We are actually going to meet up in a couple weekends to have a play date for our babies! Anyways while reading one of their blogs I saw an entry in honor of Valentine's day and figured I'd partake.
1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
2. How did you meet? {What’s your “love” story?}
Well we met in 2006 when I first started working at his school, Clarksville Middle. I was fresh out of college and very much in love with my current boyfriend. He was living with his girlfriend and when we passed in the hallway I vividly remembering, it's too bad I'm dating someone, he seems like a nice guy to meet and fall for at work. I never gave it another thought for the next 3 years we were working together (across the hall from one another) until he broke up with his girlfriend of many many years and I eventually moved out of my boyfriend's house, at the time.
3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}
We got married on 01.15.2011. It's been just over a year.
4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding? If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
More or less we had a shotgun wedding and it was very small and intimate. We loved the day and will always remember having most of our closest friends and family there. We do wish we could have had a bigger wedding, inviting everyone that means so much to us, but given the circumstances our wedding was perfect.
We married at St. Louis Chapel in Clarksville and had a lunch reception Baldwin Station, where we just returned for our one year anniversary. It was lovely.
5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
Sweets. If you are around us enough, you'd know that one.
6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
1. Nicest man I've met. 2. Appreciates me and our family. 3. He's wicked smart. And one more for fun, he does household chores, total bonus (laundry especially).
7. Tell us how he proposed?
Well on Thanksgiving weekend, 2010, we headed to Home Depot to get our Christmas tree. We decided to start a tradition, which by the way, we've already broken. So, the first hint of something being up was the fact I got to pick whichever tree, no matter the price, without discussion. Then when I asked him to put the tree inside the car and not on the top, like last year (huge fight), he did so without any argument. Once we headed home and put the tree up, I asked Tim to string the lights. He said he couldn't and I was annoyed he wasn't doing a good job, so I said I'd do it. Then he disappeared. I was a little upset he wasn't helping or at least hanging out with me, it was supposed to be "our" tradition. I did notice he was running up and down the stairs and doing random things, and once I saw him starting to light tea light candles with our gas stove, I knew something weird was going on. I am not sure I even told him I ever saw him doing this part. Well, sure enough I start to string the lights and I run across the ring a hugeeeee diamond. I looked twice and thought maybe someone lost something in the tree until I realized, "ohhhhh my, that's for me". I pulled it off real quick to look at it's beauty and scared I placed it back on the tree branch. So I then realized I couldn't keep doing the lights or he'd know I found it, so I just waited. Wasn't the guy supposed to be there on one knee, proposing?!?!?! That's what I thought. I kept saying he'll come up. He has some plan. Nope. Nothing. Finally 10 minutes go by (probably only two, but still) and Tim yells up, "sweets, what are you going?". I said nothing. I then proceeded to sweep up the pine needles and ignored the lights on the tree. Tim then yells again, "did you find anything yet?" and frozen unsure what to do I said "yes" enthusiastically and ran downstairs with it, to a room filled or candles a bouquet of flowers and a thoughtful card. My sweets sure did get me and when I tell the story I crack up hysterically at how it all played out prior to me running down the stairs!
8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
I would say neither. I couldn't even tell you what I got for Valentine's day.
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, but he's a pop a movie in and relax which means we differ a little in that department.
10. Tell us one thing you’d like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
We'd love to go to Alaska or Ireland together!
11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine’s Day.
We honestly haven't even talked about it. My guess it I'll make dinner and we'll spend it at home with our little girl. I do have a sweet surprise for him.
12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine’s day?
Nope. We just bought our house and spent some money on our anniversary gift.
13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Look at the glass half full. See the good in the relationship. It's so easy once together for a while to dwell on the bad and look negatively at your relationship or SO. It's so easy to compare you're relationship to others especially with social media where you see what others do so openly. Appreciate one another. Take care of each other. And remember why you fell in love.
14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.
