Play in Dirt

Just yesterday my oh-so-brilliant mother informed me of a new study from Oregon about girls growing up in dirt being healthier and having stronger immune systems. As Claire played casually on the lunch table, yesterday, at Applebee's we discussed this study. Today however, I called my mom to relay that not only does my daughter play in dirt, but she eats it...

Here's what I mean: I was cleaning wine glasses at the sink and Claire was crawling to the stairs. She pulled herself up again, like she did the other day. All proud she was giggling and became quiet. I kept looking back to make sure she wasn't moving up (she can't do that yet). As I went to get her, once I had finished, black stuff was coming out of her mouth as drool. I had a mild panic attack thinking what the heck is she puking up, then holy crap is that a pill that's dissolved in her mouth, so I was like sh** I must taste it :::praying it wasn't dog poop::: Thankfully it was DIRT. Just plain old DIRT. Dirt from one of our shoes. Or dirt from the dogs paws. Just dirt. Ew my kid must be building up one of the strongest girly girl immune systems, minus the fourth week of her running snot nose.
